Tight timescales

I had 11 days total to play with. Day 0 I had limited knowledge of Alva and the work. By day 11 we had the foundations of a design system built and documented. With the limited time it was important to have a plan for how those days would be spent. And to track progress against.

The 11 days were across 4 weeks. I broke the work down into 4 weekly milestones.

Week 1

Gather context and a deep understanding of Alva, the product, and near term strategy. Then a first design audit across the product and marketing materials. Understanding what is currently in place.

Week 2

Get the fundamentals in place. Collate what is there into a few solid basics. Mainly looking at typography, colour usage, spacing system, grid, and buttons.

Week 3

Take the fundamentals further to other components. A deep dive into forms and inputs — which formed (pun intended) a big chunk of their consultation product.

Week 4

Apply design system learnings to Alva's consultation product. Stress test the design system and feedback learnings limitations from application to the product.

Outcome

As the Operations and Finance Manager at Representation Plus, I was responsible for implementing new processes and systems to improve operational efficiency for the company and its clients.

To achieve this, I conducted a thorough analysis of our current operations and identified areas where we could improve our processes and reduce costs. I then implemented new systems and tools to streamline our operations, resulting in an 80% reduction in operational costs.

In addition, I led the development of a new website that increased traffic by over 500%. By leveraging digital marketing strategies and implementing an SEO-friendly website, we were able to expand our reach and attract more clients to our business.

Oversaw the financial operations of the company. This included creating and managing budgets, processing invoices, tracking expenses, and generating financial reports. I also managed the company's cash flow and ensured that bills were paid on time. Working closely with the senior management team, I identified areas of financial improvement and developed strategies to reduce costs and increase revenue.

Overall, my role as Operations and Finance Manager at Representation Plus involved a range of responsibilities, including project management, financial analysis, and operational efficiency improvement. By implementing these changes, I was able to contribute to the company's continued success and help ensure that we remain competitive in the ever-evolving marketing landscape.
